Batu City – One of the competencies of general practitioners according to the Indonesian Physician Competency Standards (SKDI) is the ability to carry out public health efforts. To achieve this competency for young doctor students, the Medical Profession Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang conducted visits to several community health centers (Puskesmas) in Batu City from December (December 12, 2021) to January (January 1, 2022). The activity took place at five community health centers: Batu, Beji, Junrejo, Sisir, and Bumiaji, as well as in the office of the Head of the Health Office at the Among Tani City Hall Building in Batu City.

The series of visits by the FKIK UIN Malang this time were represented by the Coordinator of the Public Health Clinical Registrar, dr. Doby Indrawan; representatives of the Professional Education Unit, dr. Nurfianti Indriani and dr. Yuliono Trika Nur Hasan; Secretary of the Professional Study Program dr. M. Rizal Novianto; Head of the Professional Study Program dr. Iwal Reza Ahdi; and Deputy Dean III dr. Alvi Milliana. The group was warmly received by the heads of Community Health Centers throughout Batu City and by the Head of Human Resources at the Batu City Health Office, dr. Icang Sarrazin. According to dr. Doby, this visitation was important not only to follow up on the form of Cooperation between FKIK UIN Malang and the Batu City Health Office, but also to prepare facilities and clinical supervising doctors related to the Education activities of Young Doctors of FKIK UIN Malang at the Public Health clinical clerkship stage. The form of preparation carried out was in the form of appointing a Community Health Center facility in Batu City by the Head of the Batu City Health Office, drg. Kartika Trisulandari, followed by the socialization of the public health clinic clerkship assessment system to the heads and clinical teaching doctors at each designated Community Health Center.

As scheduled, the Coass students of the Medical Profession Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, UIN Malang, will begin the Public Health Clinical Clerkship program at the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in stages, starting on January 31, 2022, and lasting for the next four weeks. The first phase will consist of 10 students, spread across two locations: the Beji Community Health Center and the Batu Community Health Center. This will be followed by the second, third, and subsequent phases.

“We chose a community health center in the Batu City area not only for geographical reasons, where our campus is located in the Batu City area, but also because it is a relatively close location to the Main Teaching Hospital, namely RSU Karsa Husada,” continued Dr. Doby, “For now, we are also focusing on the Community Health Center in the Batu City area because the number of students in one Coass Class is still adequate. It is not impossible for us in the future to collaborate with Community Health Centers in wider areas such as Malang City and Regency, especially if the number of Coass student admissions continues to increase.” In the end, Dr. Doby hopes that all FKIK UIN Malang clinical clerkship students will be able to achieve competencies according to the SKDI, especially in aspects that have not been obtained at the Main Teaching Hospital, so that they can become doctors with the character of Ulul Albab.
